Want to go shopping and start baking your own cupcakes? Here’s a handy list of supplies that I have in the kitchen if you want to start baking and wonder what I have!
- Plain Flour
- Self-Raising Flour
- Baking Powder
- Bicarb Soda
- Caster Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Icing sugar
- Milk
- Unsalted butter
- Eggs
- Cream
- Vanilla Essence (If it’s too expensive, you can use Imitation Vanilla if you need to)
- Food colouring
- Various essences (almond, peppermint, rosewater, orange, strawberry, chocolate, coffee, rum, list goes on.. check your local supermarket)
- Cooking chocolate (white, milk, dark)
To make some of the specialty cupcakes and desserts you’ve seen on this blog:
- Maple Syrup
- Buttermilk
- Oreo biscuits
- Gelatine
- Jelly
- Lemons (or lemon juice)
- Yo-Yo Biscuits
- Rice Flour (for gluten free)
- Corn Flour (for gluten free)
- Lactose-free margarine (for dairy free cupcakes), Nuttelex is a good vegan margarine
- Frozen raspberries or strawberries
And don’t forget the decorating! Here’s some of what the supermarket has in stock:
- White Icing (this comes in a box and is also known as fondant, or RTR)
- Betty Crocker Icing Ready-To-Use (Vanilla and Chocolate)
- Icing in a can (It’s all the same flavour, but it comes in pink, blue and white)
- Decorating icing tubes (they come in lots of colours)
